About The Well
The Well Irish Pub and Restaurant is a unique concept in entertainment in Eldoret. Enjoy the widest range of quality local and international food and beverages in comfortable surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere.
More About Us
We are delighted to welcome you to The Well. We want you to find here what we have found at water sources for generations - not just that obvious resource vital to sustain life - but also an opportunity to interact with village mates and friends, to share life's stories, and reflect on the 'goings on' in the community. The Well Irish Pub & Restaurant is a place for conversation, for laughter and for good times.
There is water available here too, of course, in Irish, uisce (pronounced 'ishka') which reveals the origins of the English word 'whiskey'. This was derived from a mis-pronunciation of the Irish phrase uisce beatha (literally the 'water of life') which is understandably a phrase that has been used in Ireland to refer to whiskey! You will find at The Well what we think is the widest selection of Irish whiskies in Kenya and probably beyond!
Our Meals
We offer food with a menu that takes advantage of the freshest vegetables and leanest meats in the Rift Valley has to offer. Inspiration is local but there are some well known European dishes and some Irish favourites you mightn't have come across before - which we invite you to try.
Ask our staff for a complimentary slice of traditional Irish brown bread - ideal with a cup of tea, or enjoy it with any of our soups or salads. If there's anything you'd like that's not on the menu, it won't be a problem for our kitchen - just ask your waiter.
Inspiration
The inspiration for the name we chose for this meeting place is already obvious, but consider that The Well, in Irish is An Tobar, and in Kalenjin, Tabar. There are clearly some curious connections - the people behind The Well will talk to you about others!! But we think the traditional Irish Pub is as at home in Kenya as in its place of origin. In fact, we know that Kenyans can teach the world a thing or two about conversation, laughter and good times - and that's why we hope you'll find you've stumbled on to something special at The Well in Eldoret.
